Kratom is banned in several places globally. Six states in the U.S. have banned kratom entirely:
- Alabama
- Arkansas
- Indiana
- Rhode Island
- Vermont
- Wisconsin
16 other states have regulations restricting access, requiring warnings, or limiting the strength of the compounds. Some individual cities and counties in the U.S. have also adopted kratom bans.
Globally, kratom is illegal or restricted in more than a dozen countries, including parts of:
- Europe
- Japan
- Russia.
